Ultimate Brown Bears,
Katmai, AK -
we know bears! And, this will be our 6th year at the lodge.
Join
Award winning Master photographer Charles Glatzer, for an unparalleled
photographic encounter with Alaska's brown bears.
This
STL workshop is for advanced photographers who want to photograph
coastal brown bears, and other wildlife in a remote wilderness area
away from crowds. Our primary goal is to photograph brown bears feeding
on salmon within a variety of backgrounds. Natural behavior can frequently
be photographed at close range. Our small group and private access
allows us to make the most of each wildlife encounter. Unlike other
facilities and camps, we have the luxury of staying on location for
extended periods without the pressure of crowds, away from any man
made structures. Daily review of images via a laptop computer, and
photo instruction along with post-production and PhotoShop techniques
will be discussed at length.
To ensure the best instruction and bear interaction possible this workshop will be limited to a maximum of six participants We will be staying on the coast of Katmai’s 3.6 million acre wilderness, in the comfort of a modern log cabin style lodge complete with private bedrooms and baths with hot showers. Deluxe meals are prepared for you, cooked to your liking. View the scenery of the bay from the multilevel decks that surround the cabin, with a backdrop of majestic mountains and awesome glaciers. There are no hidden fees. All packages include photo instruction, lodging, guided bear viewing and photography with a licensed boat captain, deluxe cooked meals, and round trip float plane travel, Kodiak Island to Katmai. Brown bear
are very active in Katmai. The number of brown bears has grown to
more than 2,000. The coast of Katmai National Park, where our lodge
is located, is one of the four places with the highest concentration
of brown bears on earth. Where
is the lodge? How do I get there? What time should I arrive at/depart from Kodiak?
How much time will I get to spend away from the lodge photographing
bear? Our itinerary is flexible, and so we will discuss the options each evening before heading out the next morning. The days are long and photo opportunities are abundant. We will make every effort to put you in the right place at the right time. This is your workshop, and we aim to please. We have timed this workshop with the salmon run, and we look forward to capturing many wonderful images of brown bears chasing and feeding on fish. Additionallyy, this is the best time to sight and photograph wolves as they feed on the remains of salmon. Fee; Terms: A $1000 deposit made out to Shoot the Light is required to reserve space.
