Japan- winter wildlife workshop
Feb 25th - March 9th, 2010 (full w/wait list)

February 25, 2010: We will all meet at Narita/Tokyo Airport, and, be met by our guide. Our journey begins in Tokyo on February 26, 2010, and returns to Tokyo on March 8, depart home March 9th.

STL is proud to offer a truly amazing journey through the countryside of Japan! Enjoy 11 days of beautiful Japanese countryside and photographic opportunities! Photograph the Snow Monkey's, Stellar Eagles, Blakiston's Fish Owls, Japanese Cranes and more!

Day 1 (2/26): After breakfast our guide will meet us at our hotel to begin our journey by train to the Monkey Park. After a short stop at our hotel (Kotobuki), we will head to the Monkey Park for an afternoon photo session with the Snow Monkey's.

Day 2 (2/27): Full day photo session with the Snow Monkey's

Day 3 (2/28): Full day photo session with the Snow Monkey's

Day 4 (3/1): After a short photo session with the Snow Monkey's in the morning, we will head to the airport for our flight to Kushiro.

Day 5 (3/2): Today we will drive up to Shiretoko for Stellar Eagles and Blankiston's Fish Owl. Along the way, we will stop at the river and photograph the Whooper Swan. Once we arrive at the lodge, we will set up our flashes for some night photography of the Blankiston's Fish Owls. You will have your choice of accommodations tonite.

Day 6 (3/3): Full Day Charter Cruise in the sea of pack ice until sunset to photograph the Stellar Eagles

Day 7 (3/4): Full Day Charter Cruise in the sea of pack ice until sunset to photograph the Stellar Eagles

Day 8 (3/5): Reserved as an alternate day for Charter Cruise should weather or ice conditions not cooperate. Our guide is prepared to offer alternative photo opportunities (may be additional cost) should weather and ice conditions cooperate, leaving us with an additional day to explore in this area. And, then drive to our next destination to photograph the Japanese Crane!

Day 9 (3/6): Full Day Photographing the Japanese Cranes. We will photograph from different locations in order to capture group flights and the mating dance of the cranes.

Day 10 (3/7): Full Day Photographing the Japanese Cranes. We will photograph from different locations in order to capture group flights and the mating dance of the cranes.

Day 11 (3/8): Part Day Photographing the Japanese Cranes. We then head to the airport for our flights back to Tokyo. We arrive in Tokyo about 11pm.

Day 12 (3/9): Depart for home.

To ensure the best instruction possible, this workshop will have a maximum of 10 participants. Participation only reserved on receipt of deposit.

Fee: The cost of this Photographic Instructional Workshop is DBL $6,495. SNGL Available upon request..
Note- fee is subject to fluctuation in Yen exchange rate (current quote based on110Yen/1Dollar).

Workshop includes: Photographic Instruction, accommodations, meals, transportation and charter cruise, after breakfast on Day 1, through arrival at Tokyo Airport on Day 11.

Not Included: Airfare to/from Tokyo/Haneda Airport, first and last nights accommodations/meals.

Terms: A $1000.00 non-refundable deposit is required. The balance is due 11/1/09 and is then non-refundable unless the tour sells out. If we do not receive your check for the balance on or before the due date, we will try to fill your spot off the waiting list. If your spot is filled, you will lose your deposit only.
